Greeks Celebrate Homecoming 2008 with Philanthropy Events

 

Over the past month the Greek Community has been working very hard preparing for Homecoming Weekend. Traditionally, homecoming weekend in the Greek community has been known for an array of impressive philanthropy events, social events, and alumni celebrations. 

The sisters of Alpha Delta Pi have planned a variety of events to help raise money for their national philanthropy The Ronald McDonald House Charity. The sisters of ADPI will be raising money by “Rocking for Ronald” outside of local Buckhannon businesses on Friday evening and Saturday afternoon at the Homecoming football game.  The sisters of Alpha Delta Pi will also be hosting a 5K run and 3.14K walk to benefit Ronald McDonald House on the Sunday October 12th. Registration will begin at 1:00pm, the run will begin at 1:30pm and the walk at 2:00pm. The course will be along the River walk Trail and parts of the West Virginia Wesleyan College campus. The entry fees will be $10 for the public and $5 for WVWC students who pre-register, and $12 for the public and $7 for students on the day of the race. T-shirts will be provided for all pre-registered runners/walkers. Refreshments will be served after the race. Ronald McDonald will be there to greet the children!

The Brotherhood of Kappa Alpha Order is once again sponsoring the official Homecoming T-Shirt. The cost is $10.00 per shirt. All sizes are available. The shirts will be available for sale at various Homecoming events this weekend. Proceeds benefit our national philanthropy; MDA.

The sisters of Alpha Gamma Delta will have a booth at the homecoming Football Game and will by selling shirts for their “Tie-Diabetes Campaign” to help raise money for the Alpha Gamma Delta Foundation which supports research for to find a cure for Juvenile Diabetes. Students and the public will be able to buy and Tie-Die their own t-shirt for $10 each. The sisters will also be making Popsicle music clappers for Bobcat Blitz for the children at the Football game.
