BIOLOGY:
Requirements for Major
46-47 semester hours, including BIOL 160, 250, 252, 254, 342, 344; either BIOL 310 or 320; either BIOL 312 or 316; either BIOL 360 or both BIOL 354 and 355; BIOL 497; CHEM 161, 163L, 221, 223L; one course selected from MATH 110, 130, 150, 161.
Biology majors are expected to take BIOL 160, 250, 252, and 254 in sequence as prerequisites for further majors’ courses. BIOL 342 and 344 are required in the junior year. Majors must take CHEM 161, 163L, 221, 223L in their freshman or sophomore year. In special circumstances, exceptions to these sequence requirements may be made by the department chair. CHEM 222, 224L and PHYS 151, 152 are recommended.
Requirements for Minor
16-17 semester hours, including BIOL 160, two 4-hour courses numbered 250 and above, and either a third 4-hour course numbered 250 and above or both BIOL 342 and 344.
Requirements for Human Biology Minor
15-16 semester hours, including BIOL 110 or 160; BIOL 151 and 152; and either BIOL 220, 250, 330, or 360.
ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE:
Requirements for Bachelor of Science Major
55-57 semester hours, including BIOL 130, 160, 252, 254, 370, 372, 376, 378, 496, 498, and one biology elective (200 level or higher). In addition, students must take PHSC 127; either MATH 150 or 161; CHEM 161, 163L, 221, 223L; either CHEM 231 and 233L or 250 and 251L.
Requirements for Bachelor of Arts Major
53-55 semester hours, including either BIOL 110 or 160; BIOL 130; either BIOL 250 or 252; BIOL 254, 370, 372; either BIOL 376 or 378; and BIOL 496. In addition, students must take PHIL 130; RELG 214; GEOG 131; CHEM 105, 106, 107L, 108L; POLS 101, 328; and one course selected from MATH 110, 130, 150, 161.
Requirements for Environmental Studies Minor
17-18 semester hours, including either BIOL 110 or 160; BIOL 130, 370, 397; PHIL 130; and either RELG 214 or GEOG 131. |
