The Symposium
The Traverser Saxophone Symposium is greared toward saxophone players of all ages. The symposium offers masterclasses and lessons with some of the region's premiere saxophone instructors. Students will also attend a quartet recital, solo recitals, and a peformance by the Appalachian Saxophone Orchestra. The peformances will expose students to a wide variety of exciting repertoire.
The
Traverser Saxophone Quartet
The Traverser
Saxophone Quartet was formed in September of 2002 when four saxophone teachers
from colleges and universities in the Northern West Virginia/Southern
Pennsylvania region collaborated. The idea behind the quartet was in the name
Traverser, or "crossing over." This can be explained by the varied
music that the group performs - everything from core classical repertoire to
jazz and funk styles. Also, the
members switch instruments throughout the performances, creating a continuously
varied ensemble texture.
James Bunte

A native of Colorado, he has earned degrees from the University of Colorado at
