Mathematics Club
The mathematics club at WVWC has meets once a month and discusses a wide variety of topics. Some recent
topics have included fractals and mathematics games.
Hallam Honorary Society
The Hallam Mathematics Honorary was named after William H. Hallam, a Mathematics professor at
West Virginia Wesleyan College from 1928-1943. Students are selected for membership during their
sophomore year at WVWC. Students that have shown excellent skills in Mathematics are chosen for this
academic honorary.
Putnam Exam
The Putnam Exam is a national mathematics exam given on the first Saturday of January every year.
Wesleyan also gives the test on campus and gives a cash prize every Spring to its highest scorer.
ECC Mathematics Contest
The East Central Colleges (ECC) Mathematics contest is a Mathematics contest held every Spring at a
member college. Students who participate are split into teams of four and solve problems. The highest
scorers are given cash prizes. Recently WVWC had a team that placed second in this competition.
