The B.S. in Physics contains all of the components of a balanced program
in modern experimental and theoretical physics.
The program is designed to prepare students for graduate study at the best universities
in the country. The program also prepares students for work in research
and development at industry and government labs.
Students study such topics as mechanics, electronics, light, atomic and nuclear physics,
quantum mechanics, electricity and magnetism, thermodynamics, materials science,
and solid-state physics. Students also study related topics in mathematics, chemistry,
and computer science. The program provides research opportunities
in the following well-equipped labs:
light and atomic lab, nuclear lab, analog and digital electronics lab,
electro-optics (laser) lab, materials science lab, and solid state lab.
