Controlled Testing Center
The Praxis Series

The Praxis Series is also used by colleges and univeristies for entry into teacher education programs. Some professional associations also use these tests.
Three Levels of Assessment
Praxis I: Academic Skills Assessment
This is to be taken early in your college career to measure your reading, writing, and mathematical skills.
The Controlled Testing Center administers the paper-based Pre-Professional Skills Test, and the Computer-Based Tests. The paper test is composed of a one hour multiple choice test in Reading and Mathematics, a 30-minute multiple choice Writing test, and a 30-minute essay section.
Praxis II: Subject Assessment
These subject examinations assess your knowledge of the subject you will teach. They also measure your general and subject-specific pedagogical skills and knowledge.
The subject tests include the Core Battery Test, Subject Assessment/Speciality Area Test, Multiple Subject Assessment for Teachers, and Principles of Learning and Teaching Tests.
Praxis III: Classroom Performance Assessment
This assessment is designed to evaluate all aspects of a beginning teacher's classroom performance. Trained observers watch from within your own classroom.
Registration materials are available in the Praxis Series booklets located in the Department of Education in the Lynch-Raine Adminsitration Building. Or by visiting The ETS website. The Test At A Glance Booklets are also available in the Department of Education. |
