Master's in Education Program

Message from the Program Director:

West Virginia Wesleyan College is delighted to now offer graduate-level teacher preparation! But, adding this feature will not alter the highly personalized service that is a hallmark of our undergraduate teacher preparation program. Classes will remain small and intimate, in the manner of academic seminars, in which faculty and students learn together as colleagues.

Our program will provide you with advanced-level coursework and additional classroom and research opportunities to strengthen your practice. Many of our courses are available online, so, although you’ll miss the beauty of our campus, you’ll enjoy the convenience of studying on a flexible schedule. Individualized academic advising ensures that you stay on track throughout the program. And, we have technology experts available to help you maximize your learning both in and out of the classroom.

Whether you’re interested in adding a fifth year to your undergraduate studies or acquiring a Master’s degree after years of teaching experience, our faculty are committed to developing a program of study to meet your goals and enliven your passion for education. We are currently approved by the West Virginia Department of Education to offer two Master’s degrees:  1) Multi-categorical Special Education, and 2) Reading Specialization. However, we are planning the addition of other specializations within the near future. I welcome your suggestions on which additional areas of certification would interest you.

Please contact me by telephone or email to share comments and questions or to arrange to visit in person. We invite you to join us in our aspiration to improve the quality of education for all.
