Rachel Haas had a summer internship at Raytheon Missile Systems in Tucson, Arizona.
Rachel reports, “This was my second summer at Raytheon. My team had 7 full-time employees and two interns.
Everyone but me had vast computer knowledge. The other team members took it upon themselves to help me feel like I was a valued team member, not an incapable intern.
I was learning new things and meeting new people. My experience affirmed my love of industry and helped me decide to add a minor in Computer Science.
“My job was to update a section of simulation computer code that simulates weapons systems. My updated code will be released to use by everyone in the company.
I gave a presentation of my work at a meeting of all the department managers. The supervising manager wants to bring me back again next summer.”
