Program of Study
36 hours
The course of study for the graduate nursing curriculum is organized into four areas:
- core theoretical knowledge,
- nursing education or nursing administration foundations,
- elective support courses, and
- a capstone project.
Core Theoretical Knowledge
- Theoretical Foundations for Nursing Science – 3 hrs.
- Human Diversity and Health Promotion for Advanced Practice Nursing - 2 hrs
- Advanced Nursing Research for Evidence-Based Practice – 3 hrs.
- Advanced Leadership and Health Policy in Complex Health Systems – 3 hrs.
- Contemporary issues in Rural and Urban Health – 2 hrs.
Nursing Administration Foundations
- Management I: Theory and Leadership – 3 hrs.
- Management II: Organizational Behavior – 3 hrs.
- Financial Management in Complex Health Systems – 3 hrs.
- Management of Diverse Human Resources in Health Care & Nursing – 3 hrs
- Seminar: Transitioning into the Nurse Administrator Role – 3 hrs.
- Practicum: Transitioning into the Nurse Administrator Role – 2hrs.
Elective Support Courses (choose one)
- Cultural Diversity and Health Beliefs – 3 hrs.
