Summer 2014 News
Our MFA community has had a productive summer! Congratulations to Emily Kohler (Nonfiction 2014) who has accepted a full-time English faculty position at Southern West Virginia Community College in Beckley, WV, and who received honorable mention in the Appalachian category in the WV Writers Contest. And congratulations to Joyce Allan (Fiction 2015) on her honorable mention in Short Story in the WV Writers Contest and to Chris Chapman (Fiction 2015) who took first place in Humor with “Clem, the Cabot County Cannibal.” Kudos, too, to Elizabeth Gaucher and her fellow contributors to River Town, a story collection juried this summer into Tamarack. Read “Acceptance at St. Paul’s Cathedral,” a poem by Danielle Kelly (Fiction 2015), in the Fall 2014 Issue of Deep Water Literary Journal, “a haven for those who write about and produce artworks interpreting Darkness.” Read Vince Trimboli’s (Poetry 2013) “Under the Photo of Koo Koo the Bird Girl, I Let You Inside of Me” in Clemson University’s Upstart (print version forthcoming this fall). And read a lovely in-depth review of Founding Director Irene McKinney’s Have You Had Enough Darkness Yet? on the Kenyon Review Blog (review by poet Ida Stewart).
