How to Apply for Financial Aid

Step 1. Submit your application for admission along with your official transcripts and standardized test results. To be eligible for the most scholarship opportunities, you are strongly encouraged to submit your application before January 1.

Step 2. File the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). We highly recommend that you file the FAFSA online. You and one parent are required to secure Personal Identification Numbers (PIN) at www.pin.ed.gov. If you prefer to file a paper FAFSA, see your high school guidance counselor or contact the Wesleyan Financial Aid Office at 800-343-2374. You can file the FAFSA online at www.fafsa.ed.gov. West Virginia Wesleyan College’s School Code number is 003830. West Virginia students must file the FAFSA before March 1 to be considered for the West Virginia PROMISE and West Virginia Higher Education Grant Programs. West Virginia high school seniors must also submit the online common application before March 1. You can review and submit this application at www.wvapply.com. Pennsylvania students should also file the FAFSA before March 1. The information you submit on the FAFSA determines your eligibility for the Federal Pell Grant, Supplemental Education Opportunity Grant, state grants, federal loan programs, work-study and many Wesleyan scholarship and grant programs. We strongly recommend that all students file the FAFSA before March 1.

Step 3. West Virginia Wesleyan College provides an Early Estimator Service from November 1-January 31. This service allows you to learn about your Estimated Family Contribution and financial assistance you can expect to receive for the 2005-2006 academic year. To receive a form, please call the Financial Aid Office at 800-343-2374 or print the PDF form located here.

Step 4. Review Wesleyan's scholarship opportunities by clicking here and remember to submit each scholarship application by the indicated required deadline.

West Virginia Wesleyan Financial Aid Programs for Entering Students

West Virginia Wesleyan has a comprehensive financial aid program which attempts to help every qualified student who desires to attend. Our goal is to make West Virginia Wesleyan College affordable. We offer competitive merit-based scholarships, which range from $500 to $15,000 per year. Need-based financial aid is awarded in the form of grants, loans, and student employment. Nearly 90 percent of Wesleyan students receive scholarships or need-based grants.

Wesleyan offers scholarship programs based on academic performance, talent, and/or extracurricular involvement. All scholarships, except athletic, are awarded after March 1. All scholarships are available for four years of undergraduate study. The Presidential Scholarship, Academic Scholarship, and Achievement Award can be applied to a fifth year of study in Wesleyan’s Five-Year Undergraduate/Master of Business Administration Program. The application for admission, high school transcript, standardized test results, resume of activities, letters of recommendation, and on campus interviews are used to determine scholarship eligibility. Some scholarships may require a separate application along with additional information.
