Academic Year
Presidential Scholarship
The
Wesleyan Presidential Scholarship provides awards ranging from
$10,000-$12,000 annually for up to four years of study (five years
for the Master of Business Administration Program). The actual
amount of the award is based on financial need and other aid received.
To be eligible for consideration, the successful candidate must
have a 3.50 unweighted cumulative grade point average AND a 1200
SAT or 27 ACT. Selections are made from information submitted
on the application for admission. The cumulative grade point average
required to renew this scholarship is 2.75.
Academic Scholarship
The Wesleyan Academic Scholarship provides awards ranging from $7,000-$9,000 annually for up to four years of study (five years for the Master of Business Administration Program). The actual amount of the award is based on financial need and other aid received. To be eligible for consideration, the successful candidate must have a 3.25 unweighted cumulative grade point average AND a 1050 SAT or 23 ACT. A student who is ranked in the top 20% of his/her class is also eligible for this scholarship. Selections are made from information submitted on the application for admission. The cumulative grade point average required to renew this scholarship is 2.5.
Achievement Award
The Wesleyan Achievement Award provides awards ranging from $4,000-$6,000 annually for up to four years of study (five years for the Master of Business Administration Program). The actual amount of the award is based on financial need and other aid received. To be eligible for consideration, the successful candidate must have a 3.00 cumulative grade point average AND a 1000 SAT or 21 ACT. A student who is ranked in the top 30% of his/her class is also eligible for this scholarship. Selections are made from information submitted on the application for admission. The cumulative grade point average required to renew this scholarship is 2.25.
Legacy Scholarship
The $1,000 Legacy Scholarship is available for up to five years of study to children and grandchildren of Wesleyan graduates. The cumulative grade point average required to renew this scholarship is 2.00. No separate application is required.
Athletic Scholarship
Wesleyan Athletic Scholarships begin at $500. An accepted student-athlete must meet all eligibility requirements for NCAA Division II. The cumulative grade point average required to renew this scholarship is 2.0. The Wesleyan athletic scholarship cannot be applied to a fifth year of study unless a student has remaining athletic eligibility. Performing Arts Music Scholarship
The Wesleyan Performing Arts Music Scholarship provides awards of $500 to $4,000 annually for up to four years of study. The actual amount of the award is based on talent and other aid received. A scholarship recipient is not required to major or minor in music. The successful candidate must audition on campus before March 1. The cumulative grade point average required to renew this scholarship is 2.00 and a student must fulfill the obligations required by the music department.
Performing Arts Theatre/Musical Theatre/Dance Scholarship
The Wesleyan Performing Arts Theatre/Musical Theatre/Dance Scholarship provides awards of $500 to $4,000 annually for up to four years of study. The actual amount of the award is based on talent and other aid received. The successful candidates for theatre and musical theatre must audition on campus before March 1. Dance scholarship candidates must audition before February 1. Candidates for a performing arts scholarship in theatre, musical theatre, or dance must d eclare theatre arts, musical theatre, or dance as a major or minor. The cumulative grade point average required to renew this scholarship is 2.00 and a student must fulfill the obligations required by the theatre arts department.
Visual Arts Scholarship
The Wesleyan Visual Arts Scholarship provides awards of $500 to $3,000 annually for up to four years of study. The actual amount of the award is based on talent and other aid received. The successful candidate must submit a separate application and a portfolio before March 1. Candidates must be a declared major or minor in the art department. The cumulative grade point average required to renew this scholarship is 2.00 and a student must fulfill the obligations required by the art department. Strawberry Festival Band Scholarships
The Wesleyan Strawberry Festival Band Scholarship provides awards of $1,000 annually for up to four years of study. To be eligible for consideration, a student must have marched in the 2004 Grand Feature Parade. One $2,500 scholarship is available to each band that placed among the top three in various 2004 WV Strawberry Festival competitions. A separate application is required for consideration and a student may only win one Strawberry Festival Scholarship. The cumulative grade point average required to renew this scholarship is 2.00. Corella & Bertram F. Bonner Foundation
The Corella & Bertram F. Bonner Foundation Scholarship Program provides 15 four-year renewable need and merit-based scholarships to students who have a genuine commitment to community service. The scholarship award can range from $10,000-$19,000 per year and the program provides additional financial benefits. A successful candidate must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.75 AND a 950 SAT or 20 ACT. In addition, 13 of the 15 recipients must have an Estimated Family Contribution (EFC) of $7,500 or below. The application for admission and the Bonner Scholarship application must be submitted before February 15. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) must also be submitted before February 15. Candidates are required to participate in the Bonners Scholars Interview Day on March 12. The cumulative grade point average required to renew this scholarship is 2.00 and Bonner Scholars must fulfill all community service requirements. Click here to print the scholarship application. Sara Elizabeth Blake Scholarship
The Sara Elizabeth Blake Scholarship Program provides six $14,000 four-year renewable awards to accepted students from northern West Virginia, Western Pennsylvania, and Eastern Ohio. To be eligible for consideration, a student must have a cumulative unweighted grade point average of 3.25 or above AND a 24 ACT or 1100 SAT. A successful candidate must also be actively involved in his/her school and community. An on campus interview is required for consideration of this scholarship. The cumulative grade point average to renew this scholarship is 2.75. The Sara Elizabeth Blake Scholarship cannot be combined with other Wesleyan scholarships.
Mason Crickard Scholarship
The Greater Kanawha Valley Foundation in Charleston, WV administers the Mason Crickard Scholarship Program. The scholarship award can range from $250 to $5,000 per year and is renewable for up to eight semesters of undergraduate study. This scholarship is an “outside program” and will be added to any Wesleyan merit-based and/or need-based award. To be eligible for consideration, a successful candidate must be an accepted student from West Virginia with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.25 with an 1100 SAT or 24 ACT. Preference is given to students from Upshur and Randolph County and the Greater Kanawha Valley. The Mason Crickard Scholarship is a merit and need-based award. Candidates must submit the application for admission to Wesleyan and the Mason Crickard Scholarship Application to the Greater Kanawha Valley Foundation before February 15. Carl and Helene Martin Scholarship
The Carl and Helene Martin Scholarship Program provides one $13,000 four-year renewable scholarship to a female student who declares physical education, health promotion/fitness management or athletic training as a major. To be eligible for consideration, the successful candidate must have a 3.25 cumulative grade point average with a 1050 SAT or 23 ACT. The application for admission must be submitted before February 1. Applicants are required to interview on campus. This scholarship cannot be combined with other Wesleyan scholarships. The cumulative grade point average required to renew this scholarship is 2.50.
Nelle V. and M. Kathryn McLaughlin Chemistry Scholarship
The McLaughlin Chemistry Scholarship Program provides three $15,000 four-year renewable scholarships to students who declare Chemistry as a major. To be eligible for consideration, the successful candidate must have a 3.5 cumulative grade point average with a 1200 SAT or 27 ACT. The application for admission and the McLaughlin Chemistry Scholarship Application must be submitted before February 15. Applicants will be required to interview on campus and complete a chemistry examination. This scholarship cannot be combined with other Wesleyan scholarships. The cumulative grade point average required to renew this scholarship is 3.0 and recipients must fulfill the expectations required by the chemistry department. Nelle V. and M. Kathryn McLaughlin English Scholarship
The McLaughlin English Scholarship Program provides three $15,000 four-year renewable scholarships to students who declare English as a major. To be eligible for consideration, the successful candidate must have a 3.35 cumulative grade point average with a minimum SAT verbal score of 600 or a minimum English and Reading ACT score of 27. The application for admission and the McLaughlin English Scholarship Application must be submitted before February 15. Applicants will be required to interview on campus and submit several writing samples. This scholarship cannot be combined with other Wesleyan scholarships. The cumulative grade point average required to renew this scholarship is 3.0 and recipients must fulfill the expectations required by the English department. Clara and James B. Thomas Scholarship
The Clara and James B. Thomas Scholarship program provides one $15,000 four-year renewable scholarship to a West Virginia student who has a minimum grade point average of 3.75 with a 1200 SAT or 27 ACT. The successful candidate must apply for admission before February 1 and interview on campus before March 1. This scholarship cannot be applied with other Wesleyan scholarships. The cumulative grade point average required to renew this scholarship is 3.00 and the recipient must be an active participant in the Wesleyan Honors Program.
West Virginia Wesleyan United Methodist Scholarship
The Wesleyan United Methodist Scholarship Program provides 15 competitive merit scholarships of $1,000, which are renewable for up to four years of study, to students who are confirmed members of the United Methodist Church. The application for admission and the Wesleyan United Methodist Scholarship application must be submitted before March 1. Selections are made on the basis of involvement in the church. The Wesleyan United Methodist Scholarship can be combined with other Wesleyan scholarship programs except the Sara Elizabeth Blake, McLaughlin Chemistry and English, the Carl and Helene Martin, and the Clara and James Thomas Scholarships. West Virginia Wesleyan United Methodist Ministerial Dependent Grant
The Wesleyan United Methodist Ministerial Dependent Grant provides 50 percent of tuition, fees (except Orientation, Facilities, and Laundry), and on-campus room (double occupancy) and board (14 meal plan) to dependents of full-time United Methodist pastors in the West Virginia or Western Pennsylvania United Methodist Annual Conferences and to ordained pastors of other conferences. The application for admission and the Wesleyan United Methodist Dependent Grant Application must be submitted prior to March 1. The Ministerial Dependent Grant cannot be combined with other Wesleyan merit-based programs except Performing Arts, Visual Arts, Athletics, and the United Methodist Scholarship. Scholarship Opportunities for Transfer Students
Transfer Academic Scholarship
The Wesleyan Transfer Academic Scholarship provides awards from $8,000 to $12,000 annually for up to four years of study. The actual amount of the award is based on financial need and other aid received. To be eligible for consideration, a student must have a cumulative 3.00 college grade point average in at least 30 hours of academic coursework. If you have earned less than 30 hours of coursework, you will be considered for an academic scholarship under the first-year student guidelines. The cumulative grade point average required to renew this scholarship is 2.75.
Transfer Scholarship for Scholastic Achievement
The Wesleyan Transfer Scholarship for Scholastic Achievement provides awards ranging from $4,000-$6,000 annually for up to four years of study. The actual amount of the award is based on financial need and other aid received. To be eligible for consideration, a student must have a cumulative 2.50 college grade point average in at least 30 hours of academic coursework. If you have earned less than 30 hours of coursework, you will be considered for a scholastic achievement scholarship under the first-year student guidelines. The cumulative grade point average required to renew this scholarship is 2.50.
