Their
conference record is perfect at 8-0. Freshman pitcher Brittany Sphar
earned two WVIAC “Pitcher of the Week” awards for her performances
in March. Shortstop Heather Hall received WVIAC “Player of the
Week” recognition for her play during the week of March 22. The
Lady ‘Cats will be busy with three doubleheaders in three days,
hosting Hillsdale College on Friday, April 8, Salem International on
Saturday, April 9, and Wheeling Jesuit University on Sunday, April 10.
The
Wesleyan baseball team of head coach Randy Tenney is 9-9 on the season,
but wet weather forced the cancellation of an additional seven games
during their spring break tour. The ‘Cats are coming off a doubleheader
split with Point Park College. In a 13-0 victory in the first game,
sophomore Jason Kelley pitched a no-hitter for Wesleyan. The Bobcats
will travel to Pitt-Johnstown Thursday, April 7, for a doubleheader.
The same teams will meet again on Friday, April 8, for two games at
Ellis Field.
The men and women’s track and field teams of coach Jesse Skiles
easily dominated their lone home track meet of the year on April 6.
The men won the Bobcat Invitational by 40 points while the women’s
closest competitor was over 100 points behind. They will go to Duke
University for a meet on Saturday, April 9 and finish their regular
season on Saturday, April 16, at Gettysburg College before heading to
Wheeling for the WVIAC meet on April 29-30. The men’s tennis team,
under the direction of coach Lee Underwood, will wrap up their regular
season Thursday, April 7 with a visit to Salem International. The Bobcats,
5-4 overall and 5-1 in the conference, will begin play in the WVIAC
tournament April 14. Coach John Barbour’s golf team also is finishing
up their spring season. They have two more regular-season matches, at
Indiana University (PA) on Wednesday, April 13, and at Slippery Rock
University on Thursday, April 14. They will play in the WVIAC tournament
at Cacapon State Park April 18-20.

| What
I enjoy about running track/running on the Wesleyan team?
I love running for the Wesleyan's track team because we're a family.
There is not another person on my team who I wouldn't stand up
and defend, and I know they'd do the same for me.
Why
I chose Wesleyan?
I chose Wesleyan because I wanted my teachers to know who I am.
I enjoy having smaller classes and getting to know ALL of my classmates.
What
I like best about Wesleyan?
The best thing about Wesleyan is the small campus community. It
makes you feel like you have a home away from home. The campus
is beautiful, and my track family helps make the Wesleyan experience
very special.
Plans
after college?
I hope to get a job in the architectural engineering field. Eventually,
I want to attend graduate school. |

What I enjoy about playing baseball/playing on the baseball
team?
For me, it’s all about loving and respecting the game. Also,
there are no better people in the school then the guys on the
baseball team. Getting to know each of them over four years has
been nothing but a joy.
Why
I chose Wesleyan?
I chose Wesleyan because I wanted to focus on academics, and Wesleyan
has a very strong program for what I want to do. Also, I wanted
a chance to play collegiate athletics. I’ve worked hard
all four years to be successful in both of these important aspects
of my college experience.
What
I like best about Wesleyan?
I like Wesleyan’s atmosphere. The staff is friendly and
knowledgeable. Mix that with a very nice campus and a well-blended
mix of students to produce the great college environment we have
here.
Plans
after college?
I am looking for a job in the Baltimore area, because that is
where I grew up. I would like to get a structural design job that
would let me showcase the engineering knowledge I have learned
here. Long term, I want to continue to learn and improve myself
throughout life.
