| Warm
summer greetings to you! As we begin the hot and hazy month of August,
many of you have probably already ventured to the beach, hiked into the
mountains, or just gotten away from the day to day activities that keep
us so busy. For others, we have yet to take that much anticipated breather.
However you have spent the past few summer months, I hope it has been
a time to relax and be refreshed to begin again.
August is a month of new beginnings for the West Virginia Wesleyan community as well. Faculty and staff are busy preparing to welcome the freshman class on August 20th and ensure that they are well prepared for a solid start to their Wesleyan experience. As Alumni, now is the time to be thinking about how you can participate in the new school year with the many opportunities that are planned. The Alumni office has been busy preparing opportunities for you to remember your Wesleyan experience. Of course you will want to make plans to attend Homecoming Weekend, October 21 – 23rd, 2005 which will offer class reunions, campus activities, great sporting events, and back by popular demand, a Homecoming Parade. Yes, we are excited to bring back a memorable event for many of us to the weekend festivities. Wesleyan’s Arts Alive series has just been announced which brings great music, theatre, and dance groups to campus that you may want to experience. Plans are also underway for Alumni events in many cities throughout the year that you will want to attend as a way to reconnect with Wesleyan. Check the Wesleyan website (www.wvwc.edu) for more details about all of these events and offerings. In closing, I want to thank the 23% of alumni who participated by giving financial support to Wesleyan this past fiscal year. With the new fiscal year upon us, and a goal of 25% alumni participation, you may want to consider this as another way of starting a new beginning with Wesleyan. I appreciate all that you, our alumni, do to continue the great Wesleyan traditions and hope to see you on campus soon. Kevin
