Family Tradition of Firefighting

When Hank Williams Jr. sings about “Family Traditions” he isn’t wailing out a tune about the Younkin family, but the title of that song certainly fits the description of this Scottdale, PA family. While not a tradition of singing like Williams, the Younkins have a family tradition about community service and saving lives. ...[read more]

Lifelong Learning from Your Library: Online News
The OrangeLine Online continues its series on assisting alumni with its educational initiative.

Due to the tragic mine explosion in Sago on January 2, 2006, the world focused much attention on West Virginia and Upshur County.  The Annie Merner Pfeiffer Library webpage (http://www.wvwc.edu/lib/news.htm) has further information, and ways for you to follow the progress of any future investigations or legislation that may arise from this event.  The library staff would like to add our condolences to the families of these miners, and our prayers for the recovery of Randal McCloy, Jr.

Under the Find Books section of the webpage, you will find West Virginia Authors.  We realize that this is not a complete list.  The list is always under construction, and we add new names when we become aware of them and have enough information available.  Beth Rogers is the author of this webpage, and can be contacted at rogers_e@wvwc.edu.

Among these authors are former students, alumni, past and present professors, and trustees.

Find Articles has a section called Online News. This will lead you to local, national, and world newspapers.  If you want to compare the coverage in the Buckhannon Record-Delta to that of coverage in another place, you can look here.

Resources by Subject includes a section on West Virginia Resources.  Included here are:  WV Government Agencies, Legislative Information, Travel and Tourism, Arts Humanities and Education, Services, Legal Information, Sciences, Elected Officials, Culture and Entertainment, Environmental Action Groups, and Additional Resources such as Origins of West Virginia Place Names.
