Spring time greetings! This is an exciting time of year as we see the earth spring anew with greenery, and the days grow longer and brighter. Many of us are excited about the ability to be outside and enjoy the warming temperatures after several long, cold months. It is a time to look forward to those many activities and events that take us out into the world.

It is hard to believe that by month’s end, the Wesleyan Alumni Association will again welcome another graduating class into its fold. I look forward to returning to campus to greet our newest members and participate in the celebration of Commencement. The Alumni Council also will be meeting that weekend to continue our efforts to strengthen the links between Wesleyan and its 13,000+ alumni.

During graduation weekend, the Awards Committee of the Alumni Council will be focused on selecting the recipients of the Alumni Awards that will be presented during Homecoming in October. The Awards Committee solicits nominations all year and gathers during the spring meeting to review and select alumni recipients who best represent each award category.

Alumni can be nominated for four awards that include the Alumni Achievement Award, Alumni Service Award, Extra Mile Award and Young Alumni Award. I would encourage you to think about submitting an award nomination by accessing the award application, reading the award descriptions, and submitting as much information as you can about the accomplishments of your nominee online. The committee relies heavily on the information that is provided. So, the more you provide, the easier it is for the committee to make a selection. The deadline for nominations is 5 p.m., April 19, 2006.

This is just one of the many ways you can connect to Wesleyan. Our Awards program is for you and the many alumni of Wesleyan, but we do need your participation. Won’t you consider submitting a nomination?
