This month's Wesleyan Memory is the 1976 inductees into Mortar Board.

I believe the third person from the left on the second row is Jane Weimer Godwin, daughter of emeritus professor Betty Weimer. She’s still in Buckhannon—Mrs. David Godwin.

I don't think this picture was following graduation.  I believe this was our initiation into Mortar Board Haught Senior Women's Honor Society.  This was the spring of 1976.  The group had previously been known as the Haught society and we were the first group to be in Mortar Board.  I am in the center holding our charter (Marilyn Strickler Reed).  The front row (l to r) is Vicki King, Heather Miller, Me, Marlene Anderson and Vicki Parnell.  Some of the others in the picture are Jane Weimer, Rhonda Siegel, Donna Gray, Karen Beckner, Lynne Rice, Emma Witten, Diane Merecky, Beverly Hammett & Beth Lennox. 

The same group is on page 93 of the 1976 Murmurmontis.

I believe that was the name of the group was Beta Lhamda Nu Honor Society. This picture is not graduation but the initial ceremony to bring this honor society to Wesleyan. I can't remember what year but I think it was sometime between 1973-76. I am the girl in the first row on the right end.  I recognize so many of my AGD sorority sisters, Beth Lennox, Bev Hammett, Karen Beckner, Emma Whitten, Jane Weimer Godwin, Rhonda Seigal Picard.  I also see Terri Haley and Marilyn Reed.  Seems like just yesterday!

This photo was taken spring semester of 1976.  The group is Haught Senior Women’s Honorary as it became a part of the national group Mortar Board.  Making the transition to Mortar Board was a long, arduous process.  Although it’s been 30 years, I think that I remember all of the names.  In fact, I also recognize a few people in the background!  I hope that everyone in the photo returns for Homecoming this year as we celebrate our 30th reunion.

 This is a picture of the 1976 class of Mortar Board.  I (Beth Lennox) am in the back row, fourth from the left, with Beverly Hammett at the end of the row.  Marilyn Strickler is in the front row, third from the left, holding the sign, with Vicki Parnell being fifth from the left.  Karen Beckner is the first person in the second row, with Emma Witten beside her, and Jane Weimer beside her.  Diane Merecky is the seventh in that row, and Rhonda Siegel on the end.

The picture is some of the students in the Class of 1976. I recognize many faces, but few names are attached shamefully. I recognize Lynne Rice Petrosky in the back right of the picture and Jane Weimer Godwin in the front left (second row I think).

Must be Alpha Gamma Delta in 1976 because Vickie Parnell is on the far right of the first row and Jane Weimer is third from left on second row. I graduated with them.

I am not positive, but I think that the person in the second row, third from left is Jane Weimer. This would have been around 1974 or 1975. I am not sure of the group. Perhaps Alpha Gams or education grads?

I remember those guys! The only name I remember is Rafiq Ahmed, he's in the back row, second from the left, with a mustache and dark hair. Thanks for the memory!

Hey Ginny, thanks for remembering! That's Nick Poulos, the last person on the right in the back row. Nick's air name was Styrofoam (yeah it was the 80s) and I think it was over the summer of '85 that we started doing a classic rock show called Not Music Radio or something equally strange.  And that's Patti, last person on the right, second row. I can't remember what she played. I did the Reggaemylitis show on Sunday evenings in '87-'88, arguably the finest music in a bastion of Christian Rock - I'm afraid to play the tapes left over from that era! Is C92 streaming on the net these days?

I wanted to let you know that I do recognize one person from the March Wesleyan Memory photo that I received in the OrangeLine. That person is Marianne Hagopian, class of 1987. She is in the second row, fifth from the left and wearing a partially hidden Alpha Gamma Delta sweatshirt. I know her personally as she is one of my Alpha Gam sisters!!
