Women’s Cross Country Squad Named to Second Straight NCAA Division II
All-Academic Team

Athletic success for coach Jesse Skiles and his women’s cross country team have been commonplace on the Wesleyan campus for some time now. After all, the ladies have been West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference champions 10 of the last 11 years.

But the 2005 team are not only winners on the cross country course, but the classroom as well, being named to the NCAA Division II Cross Country Coaches Association All-Academic Team for the second consecutive year.

In order to achieve this honor, the cumulative grade-point-average (GPA) of the team must be 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale. The Lady Bobcat harriers accumulated a team GPA of 3.35.
“I am truly proud of the team,” remarked Skiles. “There are many demands put a on a student-athlete today, and this honor shows the dedication and enthusiasm these young women have towards academics.”

Eleven of the runners were represented on the Dean’s List during the 2006 Spring semester. Those making the list were sophomore Caitlin Boggs (Spencer, WV), senior Leah Erenrich (Morgantown, WV), junior Amanda Griffith (Cumberland, MD), senior Stephanie Hatfield (Clarksburg, WV), freshman Michelle Mayhew (Mineral Wells, WV), freshman Megan Moran (Nesquehoning, PA), Danielle Painter (Fenelton, PA), Erin Price (Procious, WV), Hanna Robinson (Cameron, WV), Annie Schuerger, (Charleston, WV), and Jill Walker (Edinboro, WV).

“It's a strong statement for the type of student-athlete that we have at West Virginia Wesleyan,” added Skiles. “To win championships in an athletic competition and then to get the job done in the classroom shows a tremendous commitment on the part of our student-athletes.”
