ATHLETIC UPDATE
The men’s soccer team lost a 1-0 nail-biter to Salem International
Sunday afternoon in the WVIAC championship game. The Bobcats defeated Ohio Valley
2-0 in the quarter-finals and shutout Wheeling
Jesuit 1-0 in the semi-finals to earn their way to the championship. The
‘Cats ended the year with a 10-7-2 record…The women’s
soccer team was upset in the first-round of the WVIAC tournament, losing to
Davis & Elkins by a 1-0 score. The women finished the year with an 8-8-1
record…The Lady Bobcat tennis team ended their season on a down note,
dropping a 5-1 outing to Shepherd in the first-round
of the WVIAC tournament. They ended the year with a 3-5
record…The volleyball team ended their regular season with a two-game
winning streak and will take a 15-12 record in the WVIAC tournament, which
will begin Nov. 2…The golf team ended their year with a seventh-place
finish in the WVIAC Southern tournament…The football team is now 2-6
after a tough loss to fifth-ranked Shepherd. The Bobcats will end
their season with two big rivalry games, this week against Fairmont State
and next week against Glenville
State...The men’s and women’s swimming teams began their
seasons on Oct. 13. They have one more home meet scheduled for Jan. 19
against Fairmont
State University…The
men’s and women’s basketball teams are
close to tipping off their campaigns. The men’s squad opens at home on
Nov. 15 against Edinboro (PA), while the women
tip-off on the road against California (PA) on Nov. 17.

Brandon Chagnard
Chagnard tallied the match's first two goals in a
4-2 victory against Charleston on Oct. 18 that clinched the WVIAC regular
season crown for the Bobcats.
Women’s
Soccer – October 23
Jill Morrison
Morrison notched the Lady ‘Cats only goal in a key 1-0 win over
Charleston on Oct. 18, and in Wesleyan’s 2-1 overtime loss to Edinboro on Oct. 20.
October 9
Katie Schubert
Schubert netted a pair of game-winners in a 2-1-1 week for Wesleyan. She
scored a pair of goals in a 3-2 win over Pitt Johnstown on Oct. 2 and notched
the match's only score in a 1-0 upset of #12 Mercyhurst
on Oct. 6.

HALL OF FAME
INDUCTS FOUR INTO CLASS OF 2006
Wesleyan inducted four individuals into its Athletic Hall of Fame during a
Bobcat Pride reception prior to the football game. Inducted this year were Linda Bauer-John ’95,
Kelly Rodriguez ’30, William “Bill” Smith, Jr. ’60, and James (Jim) Warner. [read
