In March, President William R. Haden announced his retirement effective at the end of the 2005-06 academic year. Board of Trustees Chairman Joseph Beeson, ‘68 appointed a committee to look for a new president who will assume office in the summer of 2006. The search committee is chaired by Christine Rapking Cox, '69. The 17-member committee—six of whom are Wesleyan alumni—includes faculty, students, staff and trustees.

The presidential search committee expects to begin its review of candidates on November 7, 2005. The search is assisted by Dr. Theodore Marchese of the Academic Search Consultation Service.
