Annual Fund

Why does Wesleyan ask for Annual Fund gifts?

Tuition only covers slightly more than 50% of the total operating expenses at Wesleyan. Remaining funds must from from private gifts, grants and other sources of income.

Why not just raise the tuition or cut costs?

As a private, nonprofit organization, we are committed to providing a high-quality educational experience that offers students the chance to start their path in life. Reducing costs equals eliminating programs and opportunities for students and raising tuition would negatively impact Wesleyan's affordability for students.

Why should I support the Annual Fund?

Paying your tuition dollars as a student is never enough. The Annual Fund is the lifeblood of the College. It fulfills the mission of Wesleyan through:

Current Scholarships

Academic Equipment and Resources

Student Life Activities

Athletic Equipment and Teams

Music and Arts Programs

Library and Research Materials

Salaries for Faculty and Staff

Facility Projects

What is the Alumni Participation Rate and why does it matter?

The Annual Fund provides an opportunity for all alumni to support Wesleyan. The Annual Fund is more about collective support and participation than the amount that each individual gives. All gifts, regardless of size, will benefit the students and campus. Increasing our alumni participation rate to the national average, which is 30%, will assist Wesleyan in securing grants from foundations and corporations.
