What is the Annual Fund?

The Annual Fund is the lifeblood of the College. The Annual Fund fulfills the mission of Wesleyan through:

  • current scholarships
  • academic equipment and resources
  • student life activities
  • athletic equipment and resources
  • music and arts programs
  • facility renovations
  • library and research materials
  • salaries for faculty and staff

Why Annual Fund gifts?

Tuition only covers more than 50% of the total operating expenses at Wesleyan. Remaining funds must come from private gifts, grants and other sources of income. Private gifts help Wesleyan fulfill its promise to offer students a liberal-arts education and a life-changing experience.

What is the Alumni Participation Rate?

The Annual Fund provides an opportunity for all alumni to support the College. The Annual Fund is more about collective support and participation than the amount that each individual gives. All gifts, regardless of size, will benefit the students and campus. College ranking magazines, corporations and foundations use the alumni participation rate as the key factor for alumni satisfaction to evaluate schools. Basically, the more the alumni that give financially each year, the better our rankings are.
