Wesleyan to Name Performing Arts Center Auditorium for Marvin and Elaine Culpepper

Thanks to a significant gift by a generous long-time donor, West Virginia Wesleyan has completed the funding for construction costs for the Virginia Thomas Law Center for the Performing Arts. The auditorium in the $7.2 million facility will be named Culpepper Auditorium for Marvin Culpepper ’51 Hon. ‘06 and C. Elaine Karnes Culpepper ’54 Hon. ‘06. [read more]


Students Receive Bruhns Scholarship

Three West Virginia Wesleyan students will be fulfilling their dreams of studying abroad, thanks to a generous gift from Wesleyan friend and alumna Dr. E. Maxine Moose Bruhns ’45 Hon. ‘07. The E. Maxine Moose Bruhns Summer 2010 Study Abroad Scholarship will provide funding for three students to participate in international educational programs next summer. [read more]


Marcum Selected for Prestigious Scholarship

In November, West Virginia Wesleyan senior Katheryn Marcum was selected as a Class of 2012 George J. Mitchell Scholar during a weekend of events held by the US-Ireland Alliance. Marcum is one of 12 Mitchell Scholars who will pursue a year of post-graduate study at universities in Ireland for the 2011-2012 academic year. [read more]

Retired Faculty and Staff Gather To Share Memories of the College

Over a dozen retired faculty and staff of WV Wesleyan braved a Buckhannon snowstorm and cold temperatures to attend a holiday open house held in their honor at Erickson Alumni Center on Tuesday, December 7. Good fellowship and refreshments were enjoyed by all with many fond memories and stories being shared among the group. Many of these retirees have served the College for decades and some even continue their work in various part-time capacities to this day. [read more]

Wesleyan to Name Micro/Cell Biology Research Lab after Weimer

West Virginia Wesleyan will name the Micro/Cell Research Lab in the new David E. Reemsnyder Research Center in honor of long-time faculty member Elizabeth Weimer. The lab is located on the second floor of the $8.9 million facility. [read more]
