David E. Reemsnyder Research Center
In April of 2010, the David E. Reemsnyder Research Center officially opened its doors to the new home for Wesleyan’s School of Science. The 23,000 square-foot facility connected to the Christopher Hall of Science includes the following academic departments: biology and environmental science, chemistry, computer science and mathematics, and physics and engineering. The Center is also the home for the College’s psychology department. The $8.3 million facility features classrooms, teaching laboratories, research labs to promote student-faculty research, a tissue culture facility, and instrumentation labs to support teaching and research.
Help Us Meet the Reeves Challenge
Funding for the David E. Reemsnyder Research Center is almost complete. With the support of alumni and friends, we can make the research center a debt free facility before April 30. Last summer, the Reeves Foundation challenged us to raise $400,000 by April 30 with a promise that the Foundation would provide the final $200,000. You can still make a gift to the Center in support of one of the following initiatives.
Initiatives Currently in Progress (as of February 1, 2012):
| Naming Commitment | Gifts and Pledges | Remaining Balance | |
| John Wright Lab | $250,000 | $222,202.80 | $27,797.20 |
| Nicholas Hyma Lab | $250,000 | $161,752.21 | $88,247.79 |
| Betty Weimer Lab | $150,000 | $88,154.10 | $61,845.90 |
| Emeritus Club Classrooms | $150,000 | $117,849.57 | $32,150.43 |
In addition to these initiatives, naming opportunities in the Reemsnyder Research Center range from $15,000 to $200,000.. To make a gift to one of the current initiatives or to the Center in honor or memory of a faculty or staff member or a family member or classmate, click here or send your check to West Virginia Wesleyan, Office of Advancement, 59 College Avenue, Buckhannon, WV 26201.
