BUCKHANNON, W.Va.-The Lady Bobcats graduated seven seniors, leaving the volleyball team with quite a void. Five incoming freshman, however, are looking to step up and fill the gap. One recruit will be traveling cross-country from Washington, one leaves the sunshine from Florida, two others will make the drive from Ohio, and the fifth heads down from Pennsylvania. This recruitment list is ready to compete on the DII intercollegiate level and continue playing the sport they love.

Head coach April DeCoste commented, “I am very excited for our incoming class. After losing seven seniors, the incoming and returning players have big shoes to fill. However, I have faith in each of the players that they will step up and reach their individual and team goals.”

Alliance, Ohio
West Branch High outside hitter/right side Casey Benner has made quite the name for herself. She walked off the court in 2005 with 2nd team All-NBC (Northern Buckeye Conference) and honorable mention all-district nods. Benner also participated in the District 1 all-star competition. In 2004, she was awarded honorable mention All-NBC. When Benner was not playing for her high school, she helped dominate on her Club Hollywood 18-open Moore team. They were National Tournament Qualifiers in 2004. Among Benner’s other accomplishments are receiving the Scholar-Athlete award and being the 2005 district high jump champion.

Springfield, Ohio
Springfield star Stephanie Fuller had a successful volleyball career throughout high school and should have no problem making the transition to the intercollegiate level.
Fuller played for Kenton Ridge, and in 2005 her skills were recognized as she made the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSSA) District 9 first team. Fuller added this honor to her All-CBC (Central Buckeye Conference) first team awards from both 2004 and 2005. In 2004, she made the OHSSA District 9 second team. Her high school play was culminated when she was selected to compete on the senior all-star team. When not in season for Kenton Ridge, Fuller participated on club teams. Her 2002 club team claimed the Ohio Valley Region championship title.

Orlando, Fla.
Middle blocker Lindsay Giddings will leave the sunshine of Orlando to play for the Lady ‘Cats. This Bishop Moore Catholic High senior has earned multiple awards including Biggest Blocker, Most Improved Player, and the Spirit Award. As well as playing for Bishop Moore, Giddings also participated on the Central Florida Volleyball club team. The Central Florida senior all-star team invited Giddings to play with them, recognizing her talent. When not on the court, Giddings is helping the Orlando community as she completed over 100 hours of service in her senior year alone.

Olympia, Wash.
Whitney Law extends her athletic career four more years as she travels cross-country to play volleyball for Wesleyan. The Lady Bobcats graduated their key outside hitter, and Law is in contention to fill this void. While playing for Tumwater High, Law was the record setter for most serves and aces in the 2005-06 season. She earned the All-Area volleyball team honor for her efforts on the court. The Most Inspirational award was also given to Law. Along with playing for her high school, Law honed her skills even further as she competed on both the Olympia and Evergreen (Wash.) club teams.

Edinboro, Pa.
General McLane’s setter Lauren Rae Hametz comes to Wesleyan from Edinboro, Pa. Her volleyball honors include first team all-county and letter awards. Hametz helped lead her General McLane team to the Erie County League championship title. For club ball, Hametz played on the EPIC team and they got second place in the gold bracket at the East Coast Volleyball Championships.
