Mike Price was named a captain of the West Virginia Wesleyan football team for the 2010 season.
Price, a native of Morgantown, is a 6-1, 280-pound senior defensive tackle. Last season, he was 11th on the team in tackles with 32 tackles (22 solo and 10 assisted). That included 8.5 tackles for losses and 4.5 sacks.
“Mike had an outstanding junior year and a great spring practice,” stated Creehan. “I know the Philadelphia Eagles and Detroit Lions have viewed his tapes from last season and thought he was the best defensive tackle in the league.”
He was voted captain by his Bobcat teammates and assistant coaches.
“I truly believe the highest honor in all of sports is to be elected as a captain your teammates,” remarked head coach Denny Creehan. “Mike is a tremendous player and leads by example on the football field. The other players truly look up to him. What really stands out is that 92 percent of the team voted him. That says so much about the team regards him.”
The football team will elect another captain for the upcoming 2010 season at the end of training camp this August.
The Bobcats will open the season August 28 at home against St. Paul (VA).
