Matt Coker (pictured) of the Wesleyan baseball team was selected as an honorable mention All-American by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA).
Coker posted a big senior season that propelled West Virginia Wesleyan to a 29-12 record. The Beckley, WV senior third baseman hit .451 and had a sterling on-base percentage of .525. He ranks among the four toughest hitters to strike out in Division II, failing to put the ball in play only five times in 153 at-bats.
Coker was one of five players from the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WVIAC) to earn NCBWA All-American accolades. The others were Pat Trettel of Seton Hill, Greyson Schram of Concord, Noah Mull of Wheeling Jesuit, and Evan Kendall of West Virginia State.
