The Wesleyan men’s basketball team picked up their second Division I transfer in as many days on Friday, as head coach Jeff Price announced the addition of Colby Wohlleb from Georgia Southern University. The 6-6, 215 small forward from Boca Raton, FL is the third member of this year’s recruiting class, joining Travis Johnson and Reggie Chambers.
Wohlleb played two year’s at Georgia Southern averaging 8.1 points and 2.5 rebounds in 20.5 minutes as a sophomore after averaging 4.7 points and 2.1 rebounds in 14.9 minutes a freshman. During his sophomore year, Wohlleb appeard in 27 of Georgia Southern’s 32 games, starting 12.
Wohlleb scored a career high 22 points on two different occasions, hitting the mark against Western Carolina and Appalachian State as a sophomore. In his final season at Georgia Southern, Wohlleb connected on 48.8% of his three point attempts and shot 46.7% from the field. Wohlleb was ranked nationally in Division I in three-point field goal makes per game with 2.2 and was among the national leaders in three-point field goal percentage.
Among the notable games Wohlleb appeared in included tilts against nationally ranked Duke, North Carolina State, Auburn, Davidson, South Carolina, and Florida. Wohlleb hit double digits against Auburn with ten points while recording duplicate 14 point games in two contests against Davidson as a sophomore.
Wohlleb played his high school ball at Boca Raton Community High School and North Broward Prep as his teams hit the 20-win mark in all four seasons. During his senior year at Boca Raton Community High School, Wohlleb averaged 16 points, eight rebounds a four assists per game. As a junior at North Broward Prep, he averaged 20.3 points, 11.1 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game. Wohlleb earned two consecutive First Team All-County honors to round out his high school career.
"Colby has proven himself as a premiere shooter and we expect him to continue that at Wesleyan,” Price said. “He should provide an immediate impact for our team this season.”
