Warner Honored by West Virginia Executive Magazine


West Virginia Wesleyan women’s softball coach Steve Warner (pictured) was recently included in West Virginia Executive magazine’s first Sports Hall of Fame. Warner is one of 66 athletes and coaches selected for the list that includes famous names as Jerry West, Rod Thorn, Don Nehlen, Randy Moss, Pat White, Steve Slaton, Lou Holtz, and Nick Saban.

Softball Finishes 38th in Final NFCA National Poll


The Wesleyan softball team under the direction of head coach Steve Warner (pictured) finished the season ranked 38th nationally in the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) poll.


The Lady Bobcats concluded the season with a record of 44-13 that included WVIAC regular season and tournament championships and a berth in the NCAA Atlantic Region tournament.


Wesleyan received three votes which made the Lady Bobcats the highest ranked WVIAC school in the poll. ... [read more]


Young Headlines Daktronics Softball All-Region Team


Three Wesleyan softball players, led by Kashilia Young recently earned Daktronics softball All-Atlantic Region honors. Young was the lone Lady Bobcat to be named to the First Team while teammates Patricia Moreno and Dana Goguen received Second Team honors.


Young (pictured top right), a junior from Arkansas City, KS led the team with a .351 batting average and 13 home runs. In addition, Young tallied 41 RBI's while starting and appearing in 47 games.

Carlson, Whisner, Young Named to Softball All-Region


Wesleyan softball players Shelby Carlson, Alex Whisner and Kashilia Young each earned Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division II All-Atlantic Region honors on Thursday. Carlson was recognized on the All-Atlantic First Team while Whisner and Young made the All-Atlantic Second Team.


This year’s teams are comprised of 207 student-athletes from 91 institutions spread out over the eight NFCA regions, with a first and second team for each region.

Softball Lady 'Cats End Run With 3-2 Loss to I.U.P.


The West Virginia Wesleyan Lady Bobcats went down fighting to the Indiana (PA) University Crimson Hawks in the loser’s bracket finals contest of the NCAA Division II Regional Tournament Saturday evening at Bloomsburg, PA.


The Lady Bobcats lost a 3-2 decision on a walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh inning to end their run in the tournament. They closed out the year with a 44-13 record.
