Wesleyan Service Scholars

Frequently Asked Questions

75 hours a semester seems like a lot of time. How do I manage service hours and classes?

Using your class schedule, the CCE staff will identify times when you can complete your service, taking into consideration your class schedule, including study times, lab commitments and even sports obligations. Service Scholars use a point system to assist with tracking and monitoring progress. By the end of the first semester, we review your hours and work with you so that you remain in good standing.

Can I become a Service Scholar if I am a student athlete?

Yes, we welcome all students from all majors in a variety of co-curricular activities. We will work with your schedule so that you can meet the commitment of your sport and the goals of WSS.

Do I have to volunteer at one of the sites listed on the Community Partners page?

No, the list is a starting point; we encourage you to pursue your passions and interests. If you can find a willing community partner, you are free to volunteer with any nonprofit or civic organization upon approval by a CCE staff member.
