West Virginia Wesleyan College will present the "W. Sproule and Anne Boyd Lecture on Society and Values", with featured speaker Dr. J. Baird Callicott, on Tuesday, April 2, at 7:30 p.m. in Wesley Chapel.

Dr. Callicott is a nationally known philosopher specializing in Environmental Ethics. A graduate of Rhodes College and Syracuse University, Dr. Callicott's areas of expertise include classical Greek philosophy, environmental philosophy and ethics, and
ethical theory. He has served as a consultant to the 2001-Biodiversity Project and to the United Nations Earth Charter, Earth Council.

His writings include Beyond the Land Ethic: More Essays in Environmental Philosophy (SUNY Press, 1999) and Earth's Insights (UC Press, 1997), as well as dozens of articles and presentations. Dr. Callicott is currently teaching in the Department of Philosophy and Religion at the University of North Texas.
