Wesleyan College's Spring Weekend Bobcat Golf Open will be held at 12 noon
on Friday, April 12, 2002, at Bel Meadow Country Club. The brothers of Alpha Sigma Phi fraternity at Wesleyan will help support research and therapy for Down Syndrome in West Virginia. Proceeds collected from sponsors for the Spring Weekend Bobcat Golf Open will be donated to The ARC of Wood County based in the greater Parkersburg area in Wood County. This organization works towards improving the lives of citizens with mental retardation and related developmental diseases and their families. With the help of this organization, many children and adults with Down Syndrome learn to adapt to society and have positive influences in their communities. Down Syndrome affects 1 in 1,000 births, approximately 5,000 births per year. Today, Down Syndrome affects more than 250,000 people in the United States, with just as many in other countries per their population.
