Wesleyan Faculty Member published in Jossey-Bass series
released: 2/27/02

Karen R. Petitto, Instructional Technology Specialist and assistant professor of Educational Technology at West Virginia Wesleyan College, recently had an article published in the Jossey-Bass series New Directions for Higher Education. Ms. Petitto co-wrote the piece with George R. Maughan, associate professor of technology education and coordinator of the communication and information systems sequence of study at West Virginia University, and Don McLaughlin, director of academic computing at WVU. The article discusses the importance of modern campus communication and information systems networks.

Jossey-Bass does a series on technology on college campuses, and they produce a series of articles on a quarterly basis. The focus for this particular issue, Technology Leadership: Communication and Information Systems in Higher Education, was telecommunications in higher education.

"Wesleyan has a reputation for having a very stable and reliable network, and for using the network in the teaching and learning process," Ms. Petitto commented. Combining the insights of experts from both WVU and Wesleyan enables the reader to gain a small
and large college prospective on the uses of networks.

This is the first article Ms. Petitto has had published. She is a Doctoral Candidate in Technology Education at West Virginia University and has been a member of the Wesleyan community for ten years.
