Marc Kimes, who won the prestigious Kennedy Award as the state's top high school football player last fall, announced he will continue his football career at West Virginia Wesleyan College. The 6-foot 196-pound Kimes led Parkersburg High School to the class AAA state football championships in 1999 and 2001. Although Parkersburg has won more state football titles, nine, than any other West Virginia High School, Kimes is just the third Big Red, and the first in 44 years, to win the Kennedy Award. As a senior last fall, Kimes completed 106-of-199 passes for 1,932 yards and 18 touchdowns. He also was the team's leading rusher, accounting for 771 yards on 118 carries. He also served as kicker, punter and defensive back. As a result, he was chosen to the Class AAA First Team All-State Squad this past season. West Virginia Wesleyan College head football coach Bill Struble said, "He's an outstanding high school student athlete who we feel will fit well into our program. We are looking forward to the contributions that Mark will make during his career here." |
