Wesleyan College junior Brian Potter, an athletic training major from
Berkeley Springs, W.Va., received a scholarship from the National Athletic
Trainers Association (NATA). The scholarship, which is for $2,000, will
be used towards his tuition at Wesleyan.
"It's an honor to be selected to receive this scholarship and to
be recognized by the NATA," Potter said. "I think this says
a lot about the athletic training program at Wesleyan."
Potter was nominated by Jean Fruh, director of athletic training and assistant
professor of physical education at Wesleyan. To be eligible to win the
scholarship, nominees had to be a member of NATA, be enrolled in an NATA-approved
athletic training curriculum program, and have a minimum GPA of 3.2. The
nominees also had to write a short essay, complete an application, and
have a recommendation from the nominating athletic trainer.
Potter will complete a clinical internship in May, and he will be working
at summer camps at Slippery Rock University this summer. He plans to attend
graduate school and then work as a certified athletic trainer.
