Renowned Brubeck Brothers Quartet Concert released: 02/12/03 |
The performance is part of the Spring 2003 Arts Alive! series and will be held at the Wesley Chapel. Also featured in the quartet are longtime friends of the Brubeck brothers -- Mike DeMicco and Pete Levin. The quartet’s performances fuse elements of rock, classical, blues, funk, and reggae, while providing a glimpse into the future of jazz while honoring the jazz tradition. Critics have called Dan “one of the most talented and creative drummers and a master of complex rhythms.” Chris is a multi-talented instrumentalist who has earned rave reviews on electric bass and bass trombone. Mike, guitarist and composer, is described as “an exceptionally fluid and harmonically sophisticated improviser,” while the final member Pete, operates on the “cutting edge with the most innovative spontaneous and interactive purveyors of improvised music.” The Quartet has garnered rave reviews wherever they perform, including outstanding reviews from such papers as the New York Post, the Washington Post, and the Boston Globe. The quartet released their first CD, Second Nature, in January of 2000, after two years of touring.
