Concert Chorale to Sing in Home Concert May 2 released: 04/30/03 |

The West Virginia Wesleyan College Concert Chorale will perform their home concert Friday, May 2, in Wesley Chapel at 8 p.m. The Concert Chorale will sing the music of American composers Eric Whitacre, Edwin London, Mack Wilberg, and Dominic Argento. Highlighting the concert will be a performance of the “Five Mystical Songs” by the English composer Ralph Vaughan Williams. Those featured will be Kyle Hastings and Josh Stubs on the baritones and Dr. Melody Meadows, associate professor of music, on the organ. There will also be a group of Psalm settings, folksongs from the Czech Republic, New Foundland, and America, and a set of Spirituals. The Concert Chorale has a long tradition of excellence, having performed numerous major works, including annual performances with the West Virginia Symphony. Concert Chorale is also the touring choral ensemble, with annual United States tours and bi-annual European tours. Following the home performance, the Concert Chorale will be going on tour throughout the northeast United States. They will leave for the tour, Monday, May 5. They will sing in Franklin, Pa., Shippensburg, Pa., Waldorf, Md. Avon, Conn., Newton, N. J., and Succasunna, N. J. The Concert Chorale is under the direction of Dr. Larry Parsons, Professor of Music at Wesleyan. The concert is free and the public is cordially invited to attend. |
