2000 Wesleyan Graduate Stacy Nolan Awarded “Outstanding Teacher of the Year”
released: 05/01/03

Stacy Nolan, a 2000 graduate of West Virginia Wesleyan College, was recently was awarded “Outstanding Teacher of the Year” by the Carroll County (Md.) Chamber of Commerce.

Nolan is a chemistry teacher at Liberty High School in Eldersburg, Maryland, where she has taught for three years.

She is the first teacher in the 22-year history of Liberty to win this award.

She was one of eight award winners selected from a field of 146 nominees.

“It has been quite an honor,” remarked Nolan. “The best part of the nomination for this award is that it came from a student.”

Nolan will now be interviewed by a panel that will decide on the Carroll County “Teacher of the Year” and she will also submit a Maryland “Teacher of the Year” application.

“One of the questions I will be asked during the interview will be, ‘What influenced your teaching?’” remarked Nolan. “Rest assured that my answer to that question will be West Virginia Wesleyan’s Education Department. I owe a lot of what I have achieved to the Department, and to Dr. Thomas Williams and Dr. Lynn Rupp. I truly appreciate it and thank them for helping me get this far!”

“I know that on behalf of Dr. Williams, that we are both very proud of Stacy,” remarked Rupp. “We are both really excited that she has been honored with this wonderful award.”
