Dr. Jerome King Del Pino will be the baccalaureate speaker at West Virginia Wesleyan College’s Commencement weekend on Saturday, May 3, 2003 at 8:00 p.m. in Wesley Chapel.

Dr. Del Pino was elected general secretary of the General Board of Higher Education and Ministry in the fall of 2001.

He began his pastoral service in 1968 as student pastor of Union United Methodist Church in Boston. He served as minister of youth, co-pastor, pastor in charge, and senior pastor at churches in Massachusetts and was superintendent of the Central Massachusetts District.

In 1978, Gustavus Adolphus College, his undergraduate alma mater, honored him with the First Decade Alumni Award for Outstanding Record of Achievement Among Men Graduates.

He served as an elected director of General Board of Higher Education and Ministry (GBHEM) from 1981-1988 and the General Board of Discipleship from 1988-1996. He has been a delegate to every General Conference and Jurisdictional Conference since 1976.

He is also an elder in the New England Conference where he served as superintendent of the Metropolitan Boston/South District from 1997 to 2001.

Dr. Del Pino has a B.A. form Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minn., and a Th.M. degree from Boston University School of Theology. He received the Ph.D. degree from Boston University Graduate School of Arts and Sciences.

Del Pino is married to Joyce Marie Larson. He has two children, Jeremy and Emily.
