Wesleyan College 2003 Theatre Arts Department will feature a benefit production
of Eve Ensler’s “The Vagina Monologues” at Atkinson Auditorium
Feb. 20-22 as part of the college’s V-Day campaign. The Vagina Monologues, an emotional and funny play about women and their bodies, is being performed to increase awareness to stop violence against women and girls and to raise funds for the Buckhannon Women’s Aid in Crisis. V-Day is a global movement to stop violence against women. V-Day is a palpable energy, a fierce catalyst that promotes creative events to increase awareness, to raise money, and revitalize the spirit of existing anti-violence organizations. V-Day generates broader attention for the fight to stop worldwide violence against women and girls, including rape, battery, incest, female genital mutilation (FGM), and sexual slavery. V-Day provides funding to create and nurture innovative programs to stop the violence. For more information, please visit www.vday.org. There will be three performances with each showing beginning at 8 p.m. with live music starting at 7:30 p.m. Thursday’s performance (Feb. 20) is for women only. Admission is a $5 minimum donation. For reservations, please call 473-8037 or lefbvre@wvwc.edu. |
