West Virginia Wesleyan Library Offers “Wish List” on Amazon.com
released: 06/12/03

West Virginia Wesleyan College has initiated a new way to support its Annie Merner Pfeiffer Library through the online bookstore, Amazon.com.

Kathy Parker, Director of Library Services at Wesleyan, has created a “Wish List” on Amazon.com that alumni or friends of the College can consult to purchase a book for the library.

There are currently 40 book titles on the wish list, including a wide variety from Last Man Out: The story of the Springhill Mine Disaster by Melissa Fay Greene to Shakespeare: For All Time by Stanley W. Wells to The Double-Edged Helix: Social Implications of Genetics in a Diverse Society by Joseph S. Alper.

“This is a new and different way of giving to Wesleyan,” remarked Parker. “Instead of giving money, people can support the College with a book that matches their interests.

“The current list of books is for the Wesleyan library. The primary purpose is to have a broader and more up-to-date reference center. Plus, if somebody outside of Wesleyan is looking at the wish list, I think it gives them an understanding of the range of resources Wesleyan students are using.”

“Creating the wish list gives alumni and friends of West Virginia Wesleyan a very specific way of supporting a College need,” stated Peggy Cooning, vice president for advancement. “While the web and electronic resources have opened the world to our students, we still need books in our library. The Amazon.com wish list makes it easy for anyone to make this type of gift.”

To access the Wesleyan’s “Wish List,” go to Amazon.com, click on “Wish List” at the top of the page, and enter “WVWC Library” as the list name in the Find a Wish List search box.
