Wins ECC Literary Competition Award released: 04/08/03 |

Rose Zuboy recently was awarded first place in the poetry division for her
poem “Mother’s Milk” during the East Central College’s
(ECC) 12th annual Student Literary Competition.Zuboy is a sophomore English major with concentration on writing from Elkins, West Virginia. “This is a great honor,” remarked Zuboy. “I am very surprised and very proud at the same time.” “I received a lot of help from the Wesleyan English Department and especially from Dr. Irene McKinney.” This year’s competition received a total of 100 entries from eight of the nine East Coast College campuses – West Virginia Wesleyan, Bethany College, Hiram College, Marietta College, Mount Union College, Muskingum College, Otterbein College, and Westminster College. Entries were judged anonymously by an ECC faculty team. Winners will be submitted for consideration in Confluence, the literary journal published by the Ohio Valley Literary Group and Marietta College. The winners and honorable mention entries will be published in the 2003 ECC Literary Anthology. |
