Student Festival to be Celebrated released: 03/25/04 |
The
2004 International Student Festival will be held at West Virginia Wesleyan
College on Saturday, March 27 at 6 p.m. Rockefeller gym will be transformed
into an international culinary tasting. Several students from many countries
will be preparing dishes from their countries. Countries represented will
be Korea, Japan, Northern Ireland, Nepal, Ghana, Liberia, the American South,
Mexico, Jamaica. Expect dishes such as African tropical rice and spiced
fried chicken, enchiladas, Irish stew and champ, pork miso soup, grilled
ginger pork, bulgogi (barbeque), persimmon punch, jerk chicken and sweet
potato pudding. Jewelry from Nepal and South Africa and International Student Organization t-shirts will be on sale throughout the tasting. The audience will also be treated to a fashion show featuring attire from Africa and Asia. Student will also perform martial arts, skits, songs and dances for the audience. “The International Student Festival allows international students at Wesleyan to share their culture and cuisine with the Buckhannon community,” stated Tamara Denmark, Intercultural Relations director.
