Workshop at West Virginia Wesleyan College will be performing Gallantry
by Douglas Moore Sunday, February 15 at 3 p.m. in Loar Hall Auditorium. Gallantry, set in a 1950’s television studio, was first performed in New York City in 1958. The plot develops with the usual dramatic mixture of villainy and virtue found in a soap opera." The usual dramatic coincidence of villainy and virtue found in a soap opera sets the plot. A renowned doctor has fallen in love with his nurse/anesthetist and after he declares his feelings for her, they enter the operating room for an appendectomy. The dramatic scenes are interrupted with brief commercials for two products. The free performance begins with a brief scene from Menotti’s opera The Old Maid and the Thief. |
