West Virginia Wesleyan College welcomes three new staff members to the Wesleyan community for the spring semester. Michael
Wadsworth of Durand, Michigan, is the new director of Housing and Residence
Life. He received a B.A. in history from Oakland University in Rochester,
Mich. He then went on to receive a master’s degree in education from
Kent State University in Kent, Ohio. Wadsworth’s professional experience
includes serving as area coordinator and assistant director of the Office
of Residence Life at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia.Wadsworth explained that after being assistant director at Old Dominion University, the director of Housing and Residence Life position here at Wesleyan was a logical next step in his career. Wadsworth states, “The level of the position attracted me to this college, but the friendly attitudes of the people here are what made me decide to accept the position. I sincerely appreciate the welcoming attitude of the Wesleyan community. They have made the transition to this position much easier.” “The entire student affairs staff is eager to welcome Michael as a new colleague and we look forward to his leadership in continuing to strengthen the Housing and Residence Life program at West Virginia Wesleyan College,” comments Trina Dobberstein, Dean of Students. Conley of Buckhannon, West Virginia, is a new admission counselor staff
member. He received a B.A. in history from West Virginia Wesleyan College
in May 2003. Conley explains that what attracted him to this position was
“being able to work in a positive environment and being able to travel
around West Virginia to represent the College.” Conley served a work study for the Office of Admission and then a private contractor for Land Management, INC before accepting the full-time admission counselor position. Robert “Bob” Skinner, Director of Admission and Financial Planning states, “We are delighted about Dave's decision to join the Office of Admission staff. Dave has many United Methodist connections throughout West Virginia and I believe he has the potential to be an effective admission counselor at Wesleyan.” Susan Leight is the third new member to the Wesleyan community, working as Associate Professor of Nursing. She received a B.S.N. from State University of New York at Buffalo and an M.S.N. and Ed.D from West Virginia University. Dr. Leight previously taught at Wesleyan in 2000-2001, and has also taught at the University of Pittsburgh and Fairmont State College. Wesleyan recently had three internal transfers, Pam Gillespie '71- from special program registration coordinator to Assistant to Dean of the Chapel, Jennifer Reynolds – from test lab supervisor to Administrative Assistant II in Student Academic Support Services, and Rose Whitehair – from data input clerk to Administrative Assistant II in Admission. The College also had 11 part-time hirings for the spring semester: Gregory Bennett '03 – Graduate Assistant, Housing; Solee Lee Clark – Lecturer, Music; Lori Ulderich Harvey '01 - Test Lab Supervisor; Nancy Hoskins -- Test Lab Coordinator; Kimberly Howard '00 – Administrative Assistant to the Summer Gifted Program; Chad Jones '03 – Graduate Assistant, Football; April Pierson Keating '90 – Lecturer, Physical Education; William Klaus – Lecturer, History; Michael Loranty '03 – Recycling Coordinator; Seth Nasser – Assistant Coach of Track; Robert Silvester – Lecturer, Biology; and DeeAnn Waters '03 - Assistant Coach of Track. |
