Sarah St. Clair named to Academic All-America Women’s Soccer Team
released: 01/05/04
Sarah St. Clair, a junior forward on the West Virginia Wesleyan Lady Bobcat soccer team was named to the 2003-2004 Academic All-America Women’s Soccer Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). This honor recognizes student-athletes for excelling at the highest level, both academically and athletically.

St. Clair started all 20 games for the Lady Bobcats during the 2003 season. She was second on the team in scoring with 13 goals and nine assists and was a key player in the Lady Bobcats success this season helping lead them to a 16-3-2 record and a West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WVIAC) title.

St. Clair hails from Morgantown, West Virginia and has a 4.0 GPA in Nursing/Pre-Med with a minor in Biology and Chemistry. She’s been a member of the Dean’s List since her freshman fall semester and was named the Sophomore Nursing Student of the Year in 2002. She was also awarded as the WVIAC Female Soccer Scholar Athlete of the Year in 2002 for Wesleyan. On the playing field, St. Clair has been named to the WVIAC Second Team three consecutive years.

“Sarah is able to do what most student-athletes struggle with, and that is to perform exceptionally in the classroom and on the playing field,” remarked her coach Anthony James. “The same drive to succeed that she brings to the field is the same drive she demonstrates in the classroom. She is the consummate student-athlete.”

The Academic All-America Teams program honors 816 male and female student-athletes annually who have succeeded at the highest level on the playing field and in the classroom. Individuals are selected through voting by CoSIDA; a 2,000-member organization consisting of sports public relations professionals for colleges and universities in the United States and Canada.
