Wesleyan College Department of Theatre Arts will feature a four-day benefit
production of Eve Ensler’s “The Vagina Monologues” in
Atkinson Auditorium as part of the College’s V-Day campaign. There will be four performances of the Vagina Monologues, under the direction of Barbara Burgess-Lefebvre, starting on Thursday, Feb. 12 and running until Sunday, Feb. 15. The shows will begin at 8 p.m. on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. The Vagina Monologues, an emotional and poignant play about women and their bodies, is being performed to increase awareness to stop violence against women and to raise funds for the Buckhannon Women’s Aid in Crisis. V-Day is a global movement to stop violence against women, and serves as a fierce catalyst to promote creative events to increase awareness, raise money, and revitalize the spirit of existing anti-violence organizations. V-Day generates broader attention for the fight to stop worldwide violence against women and girls, including rape, battery, incest, female genital mutilation (FGM), and sexual slavery. For more information, please visit www.vday.org. The performance is open to the public. Admission is a $5 minimum donation and tickets may be reserved by phoning (304) 473-8037. |
