Virginia Wesleyan’s Amber Miller was one of 10 students
to receive a BB&T Circle of Vision Scholarship for the 2004-05
academic year. Miller, a senior chemistry major from Forest
Hill, WV, received a $1,000 scholarship. Circle of Vision scholarships
are earmarked for West Virginia student-residents who demonstrate
academic promise and maintain a satisfactory grade-point-average.
Started in 1997, the Circle of Vision Scholarship Program has
provided over $1.2 million in scholarship funds to more than
1,500 West Virginia students attending West Virginia private
colleges and universities.
BB&T has contributed $10,000 to the Circle of Vision Scholarship
Program, which is administered by West Virginia Independent
Colleges and Universities (WVICU). WVICU is honored to partner
with BB&T and provide scholarships to students,” states
Paul Chewning, president of WVICU. “Circle of Vision scholarship
recipients tell us time and time again how grateful they are
for the opportunity to attend and graduate from college. We
cannot thank BB&T enough for their generosity.”
WVICU has raised more than $30 million since 1951 for scholarship
and financial aid purposes, as well as served as an advocate
of independent higher education in West Virginia through advancement,
collaboration among schools, and identification of educational
trends. |
