The West Virginia Wesleyan College Student in Free Enterprise (SIFE) team earned the regional championship April 12 when they presented their service-learning projects in the 2005 Regional SIFE Competition in Cincinnati, Ohio. The team also earned a special award for the National Market Economics Competition.
“We have about 48 SIFE members who have done excellent work this year; 15 of them participated in the Regional competition, including Valarie Pauley (SIFE President), Kareen Bilotta (presenter), David Casdorph (presenter), Cassie Humphreys (presenter), Zach Harmon (presenter), Shawn Amory, Jeff Eakin, Andrea Edmondson, Philip Eskew, Marc Hazey, Jessica Paugh, Lauren Reiland, Kristen Schoenberger, Tyler Silva, and Elizabeth Tichnell,” said Dr. Scott Bellamy, Wesleyan SIFE Faculty Advisor.
This is the fifth consecutive year Wesleyan SIFE team has earned a regional title. The team qualifies for the national competition in Kansas City, Missouri slated for May 23 through May 25. Out of more than 900 SIFE teams in the nation only 120 four-year colleges qualify for nationals.
