Lacrosse Team Receives Gift from Emeritus Club |

“This donation will allow the team to continue and grow next year,” remarked senior finance major and tri-captain of the team Evey Hepinger of Cranberry Township, PA. “We travel to Pennsylvania and surrounding areas, and the gift will cover equipment and travel costs.” Recognized as a New England sport, lacrosse has gained momentum in West Virginia and at Wesleyan. This Wesleyan lacrosse team, which formed in 1996 as a club sport, consists of 14 girls. Women’s lacrosse is a fast-paced team sports played by two teams of 12 players, each of whom use netted sticks in order to pass and catch a rubber ball with the aim of scoring goals by projecting the ball into the opponent's goal. Members of the team are captains Laura Oakley of South Brunswick, NJ, Christine Trontell of Huntington County, NJ, manager David Green of Smithville, WV, goalie Sara Fincham from Mill Creek, WV, Beth Ditto of Hedgesville, WV, Elizabeth Dale of Parkersburg, WV, Elizabeth Gillispie of Valley Head, WV, Kayla Hardy of Frederick, MD, Emily Morgan of Baltimore, MD, Stephanie Muller of Clavert County, MD, Hannah Stahl of Oakland, MD, Kyla Vala of Gretna, NE, Virginia White of Strasburg, VA, and Mary Beth Yoder of Teay Valley, WV. During the Spring Sing Weekend at Wesleyan, the College’s lacrosse team sets to play at the Play Day Tournament on Saturday, April 8 beginning at 11 a.m. on the practice football field on Lumber St. Games will continue throughout the afternoon. Teams participating are Carnegie Mellon, Kent State University, and Slippery Rock University.
